The Northern Cal USTA in collaboration with International Management Group and the Bank of the West, USTA NorCal's Multicultural Participation Committee is co-hosting the third annual Grand Slam Tennis Jam at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford University's Arrilaga Plaza. The event will feature live Jazz, Pop, R&B and Reggae Music produced by Oakland-based Inersha Entertainment and performed by local musicians including The Ric Alexander Band, Powerplay and Youth Vocalists PJ and Daihja Yates.
The Grand Slam Tennis Jam at Bank of the West Classic is open to programs and groups providing tennis and other outreach programs to youth who might not otherwise be exposed to such opportunities. Children 18 and under will receive free tickets to the day session matches, provided they register as part of a group or program.*The excitement-filled day will include much more than music! In addition to the live concert, we'll be staging a variety of interactive tennis games, prizes and other activities for players of all ability levels. You'll get to be up close and personal with some of the Sony Ericcson WTA players who have agreed to stop by the Plaza to join in the fun. The aim of the USTA Northern California Multicultural Participation Committee is to raise awareness and bring financial resources for tennis participation to communities that have historically had little access to the sport. The group sponsors numerous grants, scholarships and outreach programs all with the purpose of ensuring that the demographics of tennis players, audiences, coaches and administrators reflect the increasingly diverse demographics of the larger society.
